Postby Eddie on Fri Jul 16, 2010 5:17 am

on a rather frequent occasion my Dell XPS M140 will suddenly stop the startup process. the only recourse is to shut down by pressing the poswer button. i will recieve a message that says: "A problem has been detected ans Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps;
Check to be sure you have adequate disspace. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates, Try changing video adapters. Check with your hardware mfr. vender for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advance Startup options, and then select safe mode.
Technical Information:
...STOP: 0x0000008E (oxC000001D, 0xF72CBAD6,0xA8D7182C, 0X00000000)
fltmgt.sys-address F72CBAD6 base at F72CA000
datestamp480251da"
i know that is a lengthy message, i don't k now what to do with it. can anyone help me with this matter?
