Boot up problem

I have a dell computer that i am pretty sure is a GX270, that i bought from a family friend, before he gave it to us, he was cleaning it out and crashed the computer. Now we are trying to boot up the computer and it will not boot up. Any ideas on how we can get it booted up with out having to call geek squad to come and fix it?

Did you guys try to do a system restore on the computer using the restore cd that came with the computer? It should restore the operating system and drivers.

When you boot, do you get any type of error message? Does the bios screen load?
