Boot up

I have a Fujisu Siemens A1650 laptop that will not boot up far enough to even enter the boot menus. If I press F12 the message appears saying 'entering boot up menus' but it never gets there.
Powering on wiyh the Windows XP recover cd in makes no difference, possibly because it does not get far enough in the sequence to find the cd. Any ideas

Sounds like your motherboard / bios has been damaged. Before taking it into service, try the following:

Remove the battery from your laptop and run with the power cable only.

Remove any USB devices or similar attached to your computer.

Try to reset the bios, you have to look in your notebooks manual on how to do this.
