Brand New PC Won't Power Up
2 posts • Page 1 of 1
Brand New PC Won't Power UpSo my buddy and I just built his brand new computer from parts he had delivered today. He bought one of those build it yourself kits. We installed all the parts, and plugged it up. It acts like it's going to start up for a split second but then it doesn't do anything at all.. no cpu fan, no lights nothing. We know the power supply is good because we tested mine with it and it did the same thing. The only thing I can think of is a damaged motherboard. It acts like it's not getting any power when it definately is. I know all of the major power plugs are connected properly (it has a 24-pin and an 8-pin to mobo). Any advice would be much appreciated!
Re: Brand New PC Won't Power UpIs it beeping anything? That can usually tell you what it is. But then, computers now a day is not delivered with the little beeping speaker that older computers always had.
Connect the computer with minimum hardware. Powersupply, as few memory modules as you can, graphics card, cpu and cpu fan. Does the computer boot up then? Make sure the graphics card is seated properly and that you use an appropiate number of memory modules. Might be as simple as the pin for the power switch is installed wrong (the ones attached to your computer case to the on/off button). Hope that gives you a hint or two on what can be wrong with your computer.
