I downloaded a startup manager and apparently deleted something for starting up windows xp. I log in to "user"( There is only one user), it starts to boot up then 1 second later it goes into log out, then the log in screen pops up again and the scenario repeats itself. SO I cant log in to restore the settings to an earlier. It is a new computer so I tried to do a system recovery. The only problem is that upon hitting F8 it asks me for a system password, NO PROBLEM, so I enter it and the cursor drops one line and asks for it again, I enter it again and it drops another line and asks for it again, IT JUST KEEPS DOING THAT, (BUT) when I enter a WRONG password it tells me that I have entered a wrong password, .. I have tried hooking up 2 other keyboards and the same thing happens all over again. I want to do a system recovery off the disc but cant seem to get past the password thing, AGAIN when I enter the correct password it drops a line and asks for it again, BUT enter a WRONG password and it tells me that i have entered a wrong password. How do I get by this password thing OR Why is it not responding when I enter the proper password.

System recovery requires an administrator password. If it doesn't accept your password, it must not be tied to an administrator account. Is your password all caps or all lowercase, pressing "Caps Lock" when entering the password may help.
Try rebooting the PC, and after the power-on self test is finished and before the Windows logo shows on-screen, press F8 to enter the boot menu. Choose "Last Known Good Configuration" and see if the PC completes the boot.
If it doesn't, try the above again, and choose "Safe Mode" instead. Safe mode loads Windows with the bare minimum of necessities, so hopefully whatever it is you deleted won't affect Safe Mode.
At this point you have two options:
1. You can run the startup manager again and see if you can restore the program which prevents the PC from starting up normally (a startup manager usually doesn't delete or uninstall a program you remove from it, it just doesn't run it on startup);
Alternatively, you can try running MSCONFIG - from the Run box type MSCONFIG, then click on Startup, and try finding the program you removed from the startup sequence there. If you find it, tick the box next to it;
2. You can go to the Control Panel - Users and check if your account is an administrator. If it is, try setting a password for it again and use it for running system recovery. If you aren't an administrator, you may be out of luck because only an administrator can create/delete an administrator account;
When everything else fails, considering that it's a new computer with barely anything on it, you can try just reformatting and reinstalling Windows using a Windows XP installer. If you choose this route, don't use the Recovery/Repair option, just do a clean install.

I as soon as I hit F2, or F8, or F12 upon startup, I requires my system passwordm No Problem, I enter it. It drops a line down and asks for the password again, so I enter it again,and that process keeps repeating. I could go all the way down the page doind this. and nothing happens, REMEMBER If I put in the wrong password , I get a responce. BUT puting in the CORRECT password , does nothing. NOW if I type in the WRONG password, IT TELL ME that I have done so. So here in lies the problem The little cursor is flashing but not moving . (my password is all numbers and I am the one who changed it to that), IT WAS fine ,up until the problem of the computer and the logging in problem . Believe me , If I could log in I restore it to an earlier date. If I could get past the thing asking for my password thing I can take it from there. If anyone can help I am willing to e-mail you a big file of one or two of the pics off my Aerial Photo Site Just to say thankyou www.skyshots99.com Thankyou

If I cant get past the password problem, I cant load the Windows recovery disc, because I have to boot up the computer with the cd driver option in order to get it to run, Or do I ? I would be cool If I could recovery without doing that. But I have to give the command (somehow) to get the cd to boot up.

Can you enter your PC's BIOS?
At this point, since you seem to be sure that your password is correct, it may very well be that your computer isn't recognizing your keyboard.
This will happen if the keyboard you use connects via USB, and the appropriate setting in BIOS (USB Legacy Support, USB Keyboard Support, or something similar) is turned off.
First, try entering your PC's BIOS during startup, but before the Windows logo shows up, you have to press DEL or F2 or CTRL-ESC, or whatever your PC's BIOS entry command is. If you are successful in entering your BIOS, look for a USB setting as described above, it's usually under Peripherals or Integrated Peripherals, and turn it on.
From the BIOS, you can also set your PC's boot device to CD/DVD, if you want to boot from a Windows installer or Recovery CD.
If you still can't enter the BIOS because you still can't enter the password, try using a keyboard with a round PS/2 connector instead of a USB one. The computer shouldn't have any problems recognizing the older type of keyboard.
Let us know if this helps.
