CD-drive not working

Postby ProGEN on Wed Dec 17, 2008 9:24 am

I just bought an Acer Aspire AS6930-6455 16" Notebook PC from Office Max. I'm not sure if its a Vista thing since I've only worked with previous versions. but I can't seem to get any disk to load. It prompts me to insert a disk and spits whatever is in there out. I've tried all sorts of different disks, (data, game, and DVD) and still the same thing occurs. could it just be a faulty drive? I'd really hate to consider that with it being brand new and all. please can anyone help? :(

Should work just as normal, like on any operating system. It should not spit your disk out. Make sure there is no foreign object in the drive or that the eject button or pinhole eject button is not being pushed in some kind of way. Also just try to eject the drive a few times using the emergency pinhole eject button and try again.

I would also recommend that you call acer support as your computer is brand new after you tried the above recomendation and let them have their say.
