cpu makes monitor sleepy
2 posts • Page 1 of 1
cpu makes monitor sleepyI have a Dell with Windows XP pro when I boot the computer up everything seems like it's going OK then the monitor goes to sleep. I swapped out the monitor from my old computer to this one and the monitor is OK. So by process of elimination it must be the CPU. Any suggestions?? I'm not very computer literate.. so be gentle.
Re: cpu makes monitor sleepyMaybe your CPU is boring?
Kidding aside, probably the most common reasons, and possibly the easiest to check is the monitor's connection to the video card. If loose, the monitor will go into standby mode since it's not getting a signal from the video card. It may help to inspect the video cable you're using, a pin could be missing or bent. Does the monitor wake up when you press a key or move the mouse? If so, maybe you just need to adjust the power-saving settings. Try going here: http://www.geekswhoknow.com/articles/reasons_you_get_a_blank_screen.htm One of these may explain the problem with your monitor. If none of these help, let us know, maybe we can figure out some other explanation.
