DVD/BluRay Lagging in play

Postby brian79 on Mon Apr 12, 2010 10:52 am

Hey there,

I am using a Dell Studio Laptop with Intel core 2 duo processor, and 4 gb ram, windows 7 os, with a 1 gb video card, and a dvd/blu ray writer. But when I play a regular dvd or bluray disc, the picture and audio stops and the disc spins almost like to catch up. Then the play continues. It will constantly lag in play throughout the movie every minute or so. Very annoying. Does anyone know how to fix the lag?

Thanks in advance,
Brian

Have you tried several discs or does it just happen to one particular disc?

It sounds like two potential things. First, you could have alot of background applications running. On a laptop, it's a bit harder to get video to run smoothly because of all the power savings. The other thing to look at is codecs. Terrible codecs will make video sketchy at best. I stream HD video from a laptop hooked up to my tv and it works much better with good codecs.
