Hard Drive I-O

Postby cnprofitt on Tue Jan 13, 2009 7:00 am

I had a 200gb hd in a external case.. it quit and the computer said it would not recognize the usb. i ordered a new hd case and installed the hd in it.. when i connect it it says there is a problem with the hard drive in and out (I-O).. this also has a usb connection. I tried it in different usb ports.. Has the hard drive gone south or could it be anothe problem... gut feeling tells me it has gone south..

Hard to say, it might just be some corrupt data on it. Try to run Scandisk on it. You can find scandisk in the Start Menu under All Programs > Accessories > System Tools.

And let us know what it says.
