Have monitor but no software
2 posts • Page 1 of 1
Have monitor but no softwareI just bought a refurbished desktop computer. I also have an older Compaq monitor (FP745A). However I can't find the installation diskette that came with the monitor. So I have this tower that has not been turned on yet and this monitor which worked fine when I used to use it with another computer - how can I use them together?
Re: Have monitor but no softwareIf you're using Windows, you can usually get by with just selecting "Standard Plug and Play Monitor" from the monitor types.
While this works for most monitors, sometimes this doesn't always reflect all the features and capabilities of any specific monitor (it's like a one size fits all driver). In this case, you can just go to display properties (right click on the desktop or go to the control panel), click on settings, advanced, monitor, then the driver tab, then click on the "update driver" button. If you're connected to the internet, Windows will try to find a driver for your monitor (you can also do this from the Device Manager). Alternatively you can try downloading a driver from here: http://driverscollection.com/?H=FP745A&By=Compaq
