I think a hard drive error message?

Postby lisalisaskids on Thu Jul 16, 2009 11:18 am

Hi, on my laptop, my son downloaded something and now when I cut my laptop on, it says: STOP: cQQQQ221 Bad Image Checksum and that gdi32.dll is corrupt. Does this mean that my laptop is useless and completely done in?

I presume you're using Windows XP?

Boot from the Windows XP installation disc, and select the recovery console.

Type this in:

bootcfg /rebuild

This should repair your boot configuration.

Once you get your notebook working again, I suggest you install a good antivirus/antimalware program. You can't be too careful nowadays.
