O.K. here it goes. I needed to restore my computer and emachines does not offer the restore disk to my computer even though it is only 3 years old. O.K. here lies the problem. I have ordered a restore disk from a company online and when i recieved it it has the os disk and app drv disk. i need to reinstall the os but it doesnt do it automaticaly. trying to figure out what to do. can anyone help this frustrated fool.

Usually, the easiest way to reinstall the OS is to boot from the restore/installation disc. If the computer doesn't boot from the optical drive, you may have to enter the BIOS (usually done by pressing F2, DEL, ESC, or some other key/combination while the PC is starting up) and set the optical drive as the first boot drive.

If you're using a restore CD, you probably don't have to do anything, everything will be done automatically while you wait once it's booted.

If you're using an XP installation disc, you will be prompted with some options. For a thorough guide on how to install XP, go here:
