Memory problem

Question about computer memory (RAM).

Memory problem

Postby MrPerod on Fri Feb 06, 2009 10:03 pm

I replaced a memory card to increase RAM from 1 Gig to 1.5 Gig. Since then I have had a recurring problem. The first time I use a drop down menu some text stays on my screen until I reboot. For example: I click on the recycle bin and get the menu. I want empty recycle bin. I select empty recycle bin and it gets a blue background with white text. I click it and everything closes except the blue strip with white text stays until I reboot. Any ideas?

The memory you installed might not be compatible with your other memory module. If you take out the memory you put in your problems will stop. The new memory module might also not work perfectly.

When you add memory you need to try to match is as good as you can with your other memory or you can run into problems like you are having now.

Also, new motherboards on the market requires you to put in memory in pairs. Those pairs must be matched exactly or you will run into problems.

Let me know what memory you have, and what you tried to install. And how many modules you have of each. Also if you know the brand and model of your motherboard please let me know and I can help you further.

I was considering buying a second card to get to 2 Gig. I think I will now. Then they will be matched. Thanks!
