New build

New buildI just finished building a new pc, and when I go to turn it on, it powers up for a second, then shuts itself down. I have checked all of the connections and they seem good. What do you think, power supply or cpu? I should mention that the fan on my cpu is rubbing on the heat sink.
Re: New buildCheck if your HSF is correctly seated and if the fan power cable is plugged in properly. Most modern motherboards and processors can sense if the CPU is overheating and automatically shut down.
You can also check if your power supply produces enough juice for all of your components. If you're running several hard drives, video cards, and a high-end processor, you could be overloading your power supply which can shut it down automatically. Check if you plugged in the auxiliary power connector, most new motherboards require that that in addition to the standard power connector.
