pc turns off when the cd is inserted

my pc turns off when i insert any cd..i am having windows xp with 1gb ram.it doesnt turns off systematically..but as the cd is inserted..it just go off..i hav to again press the start button and that too fr a long tym..after that it starts up normally.
Wat can be the solution.

Weird. I would almost suspect a bad power supply at first. However, I would need to know when it powers off. Does it power off when the door opens? Or closes? Or when it begins to read the disk. Each one points to different causes.
