PC will not boot up- Power light is on

Postby surjb2904 on Thu Jan 01, 2009 1:15 pm

I have a Toshiba A135-S4677 laptop. It has suddenly stopped working. The Hard drive doesn't boot up at all. The power light comes on. The DVD drive light is also on - but it will not open the tray. There is no other activity and the screen is blank. All you get is the power light and the DVD light. The Laptop is ~16 month old.
Any idea on what might be wrong? Thanks

Have you tried to upgrade your computer recently or maybe accidenly drop it etc? It sounds like a motherboard / bios issue. It might be faulty at the hardware level.

But try to open your dvd tray with a straightened out clip in the little hole that is on the front of the dvd drive to make sure you do not have anything stuck in there.

Also try to remove any power cables and the battery over night, plug it back in after it has been removed a while and try to start it up.

Also, make sure you do not have any usb devices or any other external devices connected to your laptop.

If the above does not work, then i am afraid it is probably a hardware error that is very difficult to repair by yourself.
