Please help with this windows xp booting problem

Postby skyshots99 on Mon May 25, 2009 4:18 pm

I downloaded a startup manager and apparently deleted something for starting up windows xp. I log in to "user"( There is only one user), it starts to boot up then 1 second later it goes into log out, then the log in screen pops up again and the scenario repeats itself. SO I cant log in to restore the settings to an earlier. It is a new computer so I tried to do a system recovery. The only problem is that upon hitting F8 it asks me for a system password, NO PROBLEM, so I enter it and the cursor drops one line and asks for it again, I enter it again and it drops another line and asks for it again, IT JUST KEEPS DOING THAT, (BUT) when I enter a WRONG password it tells me that I have entered a wrong password, .. I have tried hooking up 2 other keyboards and the same thing happens all over again.
I want to do a system recovery off the disc but cant seem to get past the password thing, AGAIN when I enter the correct password it drops a line and asks for it again, BUT enter a WRONG password and it tells me that i have entered a wrong password.
How do I get by this password thing OR Why is it not responding when I enter the proper password.skyshots99

I as soon as I hit F2, or F8, or F12 upon startup, I requires my system passwordm No Problem, I enter it. It drops a line down and asks for the password again, so I enter it again, and that process keeps repeating. I could go all the way down the page doind this. and nothing happens, REMEMBER If I put in the wrong password , I get a responce. BUT puting in the CORRECT password , does nothing. NOW if I type in the WRONG password, IT TELL ME that I have done so.
So here in lies the problem
The little cursor is flashing but not moving . (my password is all numbers and I am the one who changed it to that), IT WAS fine ,up until the problem of the computer and the logging in problem . Believe me , If I could log in I restore it to an earlier date.
If I could get past the thing asking for my password thing I can take it from there.
If anyone can help I am willing to e-mail you a big file of one or two of the pics off my Aerial Photo Site Just to say thankyou www.skyshots99.com
Thankyou

Here's something you may be able to try as a last resort.

It's possible the password you are describing is not a Windows password, but a BIOS security password.

You could get rid of the password by resetting the BIOS, which usually involves shorting a couple of pins on the motherboard for a few seconds using a jumper (consult the motherboard's manual to see which pins to short) or simply remove the motherboard's battery for a minute or two.

Hope this helps somewhat.
