Is there any way that the whole download speed issue could be my internet providers fault? I mean, seriously...2 downloads and he wants to claim I'm the one who's slowing him down?
Tell me what the problem could be, please!

Shared Network Downloading Issues w/Bf

Shared Network Downloading Issues w/BfMy boyfriend and I both download fairly frequently...and for the past month or so, he has been jumping on my back for downloading several things at once as well as seeding a bunch. I cut it down to about 4 d/ls at a time and usually seed about 5 at a time. He was still having the same issue and when I took a look at my downloads, which I only had 2seeds/2Dls, it took about an hour for both of them to finish. He had a download that took about the same time and was convinced, without any question, that it's my fault that his dl took so long. He decided to set it so that my download speed was at the bare minimum.

Re: Shared Network Downloading Issues w/BfThe problem is that you are downloading a hell of alot of crap all at once. Anytime you are downloading, your going to get lag and Internet browsing will be pointless at best. It's not the ISPs fault, though a few ISPs will throttle your speed. I suggest managing your downloads better and only downloading at off-peak times like at night.

Me downloading 2 things at once is a lot?? Wow...
Re: Shared Network Downloading Issues w/BfYou admit that your downloading things, and your boyfriend is also doing the same. The amount of items you are downloading is not as important do how much bandwidth is being allocated to your combined downloads. Like I said, your limited by the speeds of your downloads, which is always the bottleneck. Combine that with the acceptance that ISPs can throttle users who use torrents and file sharing, and that could be why you are experiencing lag.
Dont come asking questions and then get all pissed off and defensive when you get an answer. Obviously if you understood the dynamics, we wouldnt be here to begin with. Cornerstone Technolgies
