Has someone (anyone, anywhere) posted a basic troubleshooter for diagnosing monitors?
Meanwhile, I'd be grateful for any advice you could give.
I'm running Vista Home Premium 6.0.6 on a Gateway GT5428, Pentium D dual core, 3.20GHz 3.19GHz, 2046MB RAM, 32 bit OS, NVIDIA GeForce 3700 GT. I don't use Aero, I've checked that I have the latest Windows updates, video card drivers, and Directx 10.0.
This is my 3rd monitor with this computer. My original monitor (I don't recall the brand) began going from a normal picture to black screen, with the power indicator going from green to amber (standby mode?). This happened at increasingly shorter intervals, until eventually, it would only stay on for several seconds at a time when first turned on. I eventually replaced it with a 25" Hannspree HF257, and now the same darned thing has happened with this one, except the power indicator stays green. What baffles me is this: I am currently using a small throwaway Acer monitor, it's been just a week and yes, it too is showing signs, with intermittent black screen that lasts only a second so far.
Also, I used a Hauppage tv tuner and Windows Media Center to view television with the Hannspree monitor and now this small Acer, but not the original monitor.
Any advice?
