Prevent Hardrive from Being Formatted

I am new to the forum and my nickname tells it all.. I love computer but have very limitted knowledge. I have 1 question:
Is there any way to prevent my hard drive from being formatted? I am the administrator of the computer but what if someone has a bootable OS disk and tries to format my hard drive?
Please help!
I am using Compact Duo Core desktop, AMD, Windows 7.
