windows wount open

when i turn on my computer it will go to my name,i put in my password, it goes to windows for a second then go's right back to my name .please tell me what is wrong.

You're probably entering an incorrect password.

Check if the Caps Lock key is on, some people can overlook that and their password, though correct, is entered incorrectly (all in uppercase).

thats not the probleam my password works when windows opens the computer kicks off.it wount let me get onto my computer the only thing i can get to is my name to put my password in

Try this:

Boot from your Windows XP CD, select R to enter Recovery Mode;

From the C:\Windows prompt, go to the System32 folder by typing cd system32;

From C:\Windows\System32, type copy userinit.exe wsaupdater.exe then reboot afterwards.

That should fix it. The way you describe it, it's possible a virus or some malware corrupted your wsaupdater.exe, hence preventing Windows from starting up. The above procedure restores the file from the userinit.exe.
